# GitHub Integration

Connecting your GitHub account lets SpaceKeep sync your repositories and contribution activity to your profile.

## What GitHub integration does

Once connected, SpaceKeep can display on your profile:

- **GitHub profile** — your name, avatar, and profile URL
- **Repository stats** — public repository count, total stars, and forks
- **Top repositories** — your top 3 repositories with name, description, language, stars, and forks
- **Contribution graph** — a 12-month contribution heatmap

## Connecting GitHub

### Sign in with GitHub

You can use GitHub to sign in to SpaceKeep:

1. Go to [spacekeep.dev/login](https://spacekeep.dev/login).
2. Choose **Continue with GitHub**.
3. Authorize SpaceKeep on GitHub.
4. You are signed in with your GitHub account.

### Link GitHub to an existing account

If you already have a SpaceKeep account:

1. Go to [Connections settings](https://spacekeep.dev/settings/links).
2. Choose **Connect GitHub**.
3. Authorize SpaceKeep on GitHub.
4. Your GitHub account is now linked.

## What data is accessed

SpaceKeep requests the following GitHub permissions:

- **`user:email`** — access to your email address

SpaceKeep only reads your public GitHub data. It does not modify your repositories or account.

## Disconnecting

You can disconnect GitHub at any time from [Connections settings](https://spacekeep.dev/settings/links). Disconnecting removes your GitHub data from your profile.

## Troubleshooting

If your GitHub connection fails:

- Make sure you authorized SpaceKeep on GitHub
- Check that your GitHub account is in good standing
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting
