# Conversations

Every exchange with JARVIS belongs to a conversation. Conversations are saved to your account, so
you can close the tab, come back tomorrow, and continue the same thread.

## Starting a conversation

There are two ways, and they do the same thing:

- **New conversation** in the sidebar.
- **Ask JARVIS** or **New conversation** on the Overview page.

A conversation is created by your first message, so starting one and not typing anything does not
leave an empty entry behind.

## Conversation titles

You do not have to name your conversations. JARVIS creates a title from your first real request:

```text
You: Compare Postgres and MySQL for a small SaaS backend.
Sidebar: "Postgres vs MySQL for a small SaaS…"
```

A greeting on its own keeps the temporary **New conversation** title until you ask something
substantive. Once a conversation has a meaningful title, JARVIS leaves it alone.

## Continuing a conversation

Open any conversation from **Recent conversations** in the sidebar and the full thread is restored.
Your next message goes into the same conversation, with everything that came before available as
context.

This is the ordinary way to work — ask a question now, follow up tomorrow.

## Contextual follow-ups

JARVIS uses the relevant part of the conversation to understand references. You can write:

```text
You: Summarise the main risks of migrating to a monorepo.
JARVIS: summary
You: Which of those would hurt us least right now?
JARVIS: answers against the risks it just listed
You: And what would it cost to start small?
JARVIS: continues the same discussion
```

References like *"that"*, *"this"*, *"the other one"*, *"what about it?"*, and *"and now?"* resolve
against the conversation without you restating the subject.

JARVIS uses what is relevant in the current thread. It does not carry context across into a
different conversation — start a new one and it starts clean.

## Searching your conversations

The **Search conversations…** field in the sidebar searches both titles and message content, and
results are scoped to your account.

```text
Search: docker
→ "Docker compose setup", matched on title
→ "Apartment shortlist", matched on a message about a docker container
```

Searching is scoped to what you own — you only ever find your own conversations.

## Renaming

Open the **⋯** menu on a conversation and choose **Rename**. The new title is saved immediately and
used in the sidebar and the browser tab. Titles are single-line and up to 80 characters.

## Deleting

**⋯** → **Delete**, then confirm. Deleting a conversation removes it and its messages.

> [!WARNING]
> Deleting a conversation cannot be undone.
